Well, now we know what it's like to have a sick Mommy in our home. Poor Mommy must have caught whatever was bugging me last week (I was crabby through the weekend and then got a funky rash on my neck and trunk) and she was pretty wiped out this week, even to the point of Daddy staying home from work yesterday to take care of us! It's a good thing she's feeling a lot better today; Daddy and I missed our normal Mommy.
In addition to staying home with me yesterday, Daddy also took me to my 9-month check-up on Wednesday (so that Mommy could take a nap!). Dr. Shearer said I'm doing just fine while Daddy said I was a wonderful little girl until he had to put my clothes back on (yikes!) and had to get my finger pricked at the lab for the normal lead test and an iron test. Boy, I really let everyone know that was NOT what I wanted to have happen. Besides that, here are my current stats:
Height - 27.5 inches (51%)
Weight - 19 lbs. 1 oz. (56%)
Head Circumference - 18 cm (50%)
Looks like I'm a pretty normal kid these days. Mommy and Daddy have agreed that though I may be at the later end of normal movement development, I'm at the earlier end in terms of my language (with a Grandmother like mine, who wouldn't guess that!). They're not quite sure if I'm using sounds to name specific things, but it certainly seems like it sometimes. I've also tried to imitate Mommy when she says "cat" or "daddy". We all hope that I'm an early talker so that I can let Mommy and Daddy know what I want, instead of just crabbing about it.
Even though I'm not exactly crawling, I get myself lots of places, especially if there's something nearby that I consider interesting. Still, Mommy and Daddy can tell that I really want to crawl and move around like big people do. I'm getting a bit tired of this stuck in a 3 foot diameter circle. (Can you tell there are math teachers in my family?) We know that it will happen one day, and that life will change dramatically when it does :)
Well, I think Mommy and I are going to go to the park this afternoon. For those of you not living in Madison and yet keeping track of our snow developments, we officially passed the 100 inches mark last weekend. To put that in perspective, we usually only get about 35-40 inches here and 100 inches rivals what Grandma and Grandpa Mischnick get up in the snowbelt of the UP! At least we're at the point of the year where it melts fast!
