Uncle Adam's visit

My brother, Adam, flew in from Denver for a great extended weekend with us this past weekend; he came late Friday and left this afternoon.

On Saturday my parents came down for the day and Miriam, Chris, Mark, and Nate came for a few hours in the evening so we could celebrate Anna's birthday with family. She thoroughly enjoyed being the center of attention and also enjoyed her birthday cake :)

Besides the party, Adam spent his time here with us going downtown to the Farmer's Market, mountain biking with Matt on Sunday afternoon, babysitting on Sunday night so Matt and I could go to Bible Study without Anna (!), going to the zoo with Anna and I on Monday morning and helping me snap beans this morning before he left. (For those of you who knew Adam and I 20 years ago, you can be pleasantly surprised that this gardening happened successfully with the two of us working together) This picture is from Sunday night after Matt and I got home. Adam said Anna started crying about 3 minutes before we pulled in the driveway and for the rest of the evening did NOT want to be held by him. He said the rest of the evening went much better :)

Besides these things, we all also spent quite a bit of time just watching and playing with Anna. It was great having Adam around for a few days and I know that Anna and he loved the opportunity to spend some time together. Anna was a bit uncertain about having him stay with us, but by this morning she was looking for him when she got up and "asking" for him to push her in her swing.

Both Anna and Adam got a kick out of her asking what everything was. She'd ask, he'd answer ... over and over and over. I guess it doesn't take too long to get used to responding to a curious baby.
