These pictures are all from a trip to the Children's Museum yesterday with Gretchen and Josh. Of course we all had fun, but Anna and I had to cut out early. She was pretty wiped out after having had only one nap for a few days in a row.
We seem to have seen a lot of our friends, the Stanfords (Gretchen, Tim, and Josh) lately, probably because we're trying to cram in some good times before they move to Milwaukee in August. That, and Matt has a welder that Tim needs for his submarine project (don't ask :)
Anna and Josh definitely recognize one another now. In fact, during church on Sunday they were "making eyes" at each other and waving to one another while the pastor was doing the opening prayer. Crazy kids! Too bad that Josh will soon be a bit further away, although Gretchen and I have decided that we'll still have to get together with the kids ... maybe just not as often.Lately Anna has gotten pretty good at walking around when she's only holding on to one of our fingers. She is still hesitant to take any steps on her own, though. In fact, Matt and I have noticed that she can stand by herself, but if she realizes that's what she's doing, she'll sit down almost instantly. Silly girl. We've taken to trying to trick her into standing on her own lately :)
We've also started to notice how sensitive and empathetic Anna can be. For example, when Josh was over at our house playing the other day and needed to be redirected, Anna started crying, presumably because Josh got in trouble. We couldn't figure out what else it might have been. Then when we were at the Children's Museum, Josh fell and bonked his head, causing Anna to cry, too. Again, nothing had happened specifically to Anna. And finally, Anna accidentally shut our patio door on Shadow's tail this morning, causing Shadow to briefly yowl. She looked up at me, and then started bawling. Poor girl ... being tired probably doesn't help the circumstances, either.
Finally, for anyone keeping track of our garden progress this year, things are getting pretty out of control and the tomatoes aren't even ripe yet! The peas are done, the beans are almost done, and now the cucumbers and zucchini are in all-out production mode. Yesterday I didn't get a chance to pick them and was "rewarded" today by about 10 cucumbers and 5 large zucchini. At least Anna enjoys the food along with us. Now I just have to go and find some more creative zucchini recipes :)
