Summertime Fun

What a great summer we're having this year! Last week Anna and I met Melissa again at the Concert on the Square and, of course, had a great time again. This time we met a couple sitting near us who had a dog with them; Anna seems to love dogs these days ... go figure. Anyway, they let us come over a few times so Anna could pet the dog and screech at it.

Saturday afternoon/evening we went to a local county park so Matt could do some mountain biking and Anna and I could go hiking before a picnic dinner.Well, I learned that I should probably have a map with me before I set out on a walk (that turns into a 50 minute hike) with a 20+ pound child in a backpack. Anna and I ended up getting lost on the biking trails and getting lots of mosquito bites before Matt found us and led us back to the parking lot. Anna didn't seem to mind and the only part of me that was really bothered was my shoulders ... and then all those mosquito bites the next day.

My mom came through Madison on Sunday and we decided to introduce Anna to swimming pools. After just a little hesitation, Anna thoroughly enjoyed the experience. She even got up the nerve to stand on her own in the pool and go under the falling water.

Since Anna's birthday, we've started using her step stool (made by Grandpa Colba) for her to brush her teeth. She loves coming into the bathroom (which is usually off limits to her), getting on her stool, and brushing her teeth. Okay, so "brushing her teeth" may not be quite the right term. It's more of a "chewing on the toothbrush and sucking the toothpaste off" kind of action. Either way, she's just too cute when she does this so we thought we had to snap a picture. Hopefully brushing teeth will always be as fun as it is now :)

Matt and I like to joke sometimes that we have a destructive baby. She will not leave even 2 blocks on top of one another if she is in the same room. In fact, if blocks are lined up in a row, she'll purposely mess them up. This was one of those rare times where one of us got the entire stack together before she managed to topple it. Crazy kid!
