Like father, like daughter

Turns out I'm like my Daddy quite a bit. Besides looking like his baby pictures, I have a few of his personality traits, too. For example, sometimes I forget that I'm getting hungry until the last possible moment. When I finally realize I'm hungry, I go "from 0 to 60" (as Mommy says) in about one minute. Daddy does that, too, except he just forgets to eat until he gets a headache or starts to feel dizzy :) Then he has to eat right away, too!

I'm also like my Daddy in that after I have a big meal, sometimes I just need to lie down on the floor for awhile. Those of you who grew up with Daddy know he often did that (with Sam, the dog) after big dinners with the family.

This picture is after both of these things happened. I was too tired to realize I was hungry until too late, at which point I REALLY let Mommy know it was time to eat. Then, after I'd had my fill, I needed to just lie down for a bit. Finally, AFTER I was full and rested, I told Mommy how much I appreciated her by giving her some big smiles :)

I'm a bit like my Mommy, too, at this point; we both need lots of sleep! In fact, one of the most exciting things for Mommy in the past few weeks is that I've started "sleeping through the night". Mommy still doesn't quite understand that expression since it doesn't exactly mean what she thought it always meant (you know, not waking up at all from bedtime to wake time). But, she definitely appreciates the fact that I sleep for about 7 or 8 hours during my first stretch, then get up around 4 a.m. or 5 a.m. to eat before I go back to sleep for another 2 or 3 hours. We've been doing that now for almost two weeks! Like I said, Mommy and I both need lots of sleep!

This past weekend was a very social one for our family ... quite out of the ordinary! On Saturday, Nick and Jackie Bladow (some of Mommy and Daddy's friends) stopped by on their way through town. This was the first time I met them and I had a great time just watching them all have dinner together. After they left, I decided I needed time to talk and move before I was going to go to sleep since I had been so still and quiet while they were here. Mommy and Daddy didn't seem to appreciate my need to stay up past my normal bedtime, though it was fun for them to hear me talking to myself for about 20 minutes after they first tried to put me to bed.

Then after church on Sunday, we went to a picnic with some friends from church. I slept through most of that, though, since I didn't get my normal amount of sleep the night before. But that meant I was well rested for our visit with my Aunt Miriam, Uncle Chris, and cousins Mark and Nate. Again, I really loved to watch everything that was going on around me and I also enjoyed listening to my cousins.

My cousin Mark loves me SO much! With the short visit last night, everyone forgot to take pictures, but this is one from my baptism weekend when Mark first met me. He loves to get close to my face and then have our noses touch. He also loves to show me toys and can't wait for the time when I can play with him. I can't wait for them to move closer so that I can see them more often. In case you didn't know, Uncle Chris recently accepted a call to a church in Grafton, WI, and they'll all be moving in the next few weeks. Yeah!
