A weekend of traveling and visiting

For those of you who didn't know, we spent some of this past weekend in Indianapolis for a college friend's wedding. We broke up the trip on Friday and Saturday by staying with Uncle Martin (minus Aunt Kathy who was in Pittsburg for a conference). Then we were able to visit with my college friend, Laura, and her family on Saturday morning before heading over to Indy. On a random side note, God was really on own side for the whole affair this weekend. All parts of the traveling went well, even though we completely forgot there was a time change until we got to the hotel on Saturday only an hour before the wedding started ... yikes!

Anyway, the whole trip went well. Forgetting about the time change was actually a blessing since it meant Anna managed to stay up later and then we got an extra hour coming back on Sunday. The car rides even worked out well, with some very well timed stops at rest areas in Illinois and Wisconsin that had some great park areas. Besides the traveling logistics, the wedding was great fun for us, too, especially since Anna stayed back at the hotel with a fellow 13-month old child of friends and a babysitter.

We hadn't planned on staying out as late as we did at the reception, but it must have worked out okay since when we got back to the hotel, this is what we found - two exhausted kids and one happy babysitter :)

Anyway, for those interested, here's a picture of the group of guys Matt knew in college who have somewhat kept in touch. Only a few of the group were unable to attend, and of those pictured, five were in the infamous "six guys living in a three bedroom apartment" group. Needless to say, it was fun to see them ... and their wives ... and their kids.

On a more exciting note, Anna has officially taken 1-2 steps a few different times. We knew the little stinker could stand by herself, but usually just chooses not to. We've taken to trying to con her into standing by putting something other than our finger in her hand (silverware, a stick, whatever ...) and then letting go of that object. Sure enough, more often than not she'll stand on her own for awhile until she realizes what we've done. Then she squats down ever-so-slowly until she can get her hands and knees down. Silly girl. When we've done this trick and she's close enough to something exciting, she'll take a step towards it without even realizing.
