Anna's new game deals with belly buttons. Some time last week she got really fascinated by her own belly button during bath time. Then we realized that she would show us her belly button by pulling up her shirt if we asked her where it was. This led to us showing her that everyone has a belly button. The next step, of course, was for her to find people's belly buttons. Well, this new skill of hers culminated in a fun game when my parents stopped by for a visit on their way through Madison on Saturday. When we asked Anna where her belly button was, she promptly showed it off.

Then she started looking for my mom's belly button, my belly button, Matt's belly button, and finally, my dad's belly button. She was very intrigued by his since he has to untuck his shirt so she could see it.
Matt and I were wondering if we were going to regret this game. I think we're safe because even though she tried to find mine once yesterday during church, she was able to be distracted enough not to pursue the search :) We decided to try and keep the belly button game contained within our house.
On a different note, for all those Lutherans out there ... Anna found a copy of Luther's Small Catechism this weekend and appeared to be studying up for confirmation. We're trying to convince her that she doesn't need to know all of the theology just yet ... only that Jesus loves her :)And finally ... though I haven't mentioned the garden in a few weeks, we're still working on it. Last week I canned pears, grapes, and plums and then Matt helped with one more batch of salsa on Saturday. Looks like we're down to applesauce in a few weeks, a bit more tomatoes, and some raspberries ... yum!
